چکیده

Inlets and exhaust nozzles are often omitted in aerodynamic simulations of aircraft due to the complexities involved in the modeling of engine details and flow physics. However, the omission is often improper since inlet or plume flows may have a substantial effect on vehicle aerodynamics. A method for modeling the effect of inlets and exhaust plumes using boundary conditions within an inviscid Cartesian flow solver is presented. This approach couples with both CAD systems and legacy geometry to provide an automated tool suitable for parameter studies. The method is validated using twoand three-dimensional test problems which are compared with both theoretical and experimental results. The numerical results demonstrate excellent agreement with theory and available data, even for extremely strong jets and very sensitive inlets.

An Investigate on Power, Torque and Exhaust Gas Emission Variation: Effect of Hydroxy Gas Addition to Inlet Air of a SI Engine

Hydrogen has been known as a clean and suitable fuel to replace conventional fossil fuels. One of the common hydrogen production methods is using water electrolysis process. This method produces oxygen as well as hydrogen by ratio of 1:2. The aim of this work is to investigate the effects of inlet air enrichment by adding produced hydrogen and oxygen to an internal combustion engine. For this p...

EFFECTS OF INLET PORT DESIGN FACTORS ON COMBUSTION CHARACTERISTICS AND EMISSION LEVELS OF DIESEL ENGINES

Intake system design as well as inlet ports and valves configuration is of paramount importance in the optimal performance of internal combustion engines. In the present study, the effect of inlet ports design is investigated on OM-457LA diesel engine by using a CFD analysis and the AVL-Fire code as well. A thermodynamic model of the whole engine equipped with a turbocharger and an intercooler ...

Improvement of simple and regenerative gas turbine using simple and ejector-absorption refrigeration

The exhaust gases of gas turbine power plant carry a significant amount of thermal energy that is usually expelled to the atmosphere this causes a reduction in net work and efficiency of gas turbine. On the other hand, the generated power and efficiency of gas turbine plants depend largely on the temperature of the inlet air, So that they both increase as the inlet air temperature decreases. Th...

Generalized Differential Quadrature Method for Vibration Analysis of Cantilever Trapezoidal FG Thick Plate

This paper presents a numerical solution for vibration analysis of a cantilever trapezoidal thick plate. The material of the plate is considered to be graded through the thickness from a metal surface to a ceramic one according to a power law function. Kinetic and strain energies are derived based on the Reissner-Mindlin theory for thick plates and using Hamilton's principle, the governing equa...

Acoustic Analysis of an Exhaust MANIFOLD by INDIRECT Boundary Element Method

The present work is aimed at the development of a numerical procedure, based on the usage of the Boundary Element Method (BEM) as implemented in the software LMS Virtual.Lab, for the vibro-acoustics analysis of an exhaust manifold. The manifold vibrations are induced by two different ways: engine vibrations (transmitted to the manifold surfaces) and turbulences generated by the air flow in the ...
